Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
