The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Reaction Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping. The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services. The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Modifications Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10. The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Experiences A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained. Required Changes Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
